The key to strong parent teacher communication online?
Organization and Efficiency!
When it comes to making communication flow smoothly on your website, thoughtful design is everything! In this video, one of Foxbright's customer service experts - Adrian Hirsch - shares some tips on how you can set up your website to help teachers stay organized and efficient. While we use the Foxbright CMS (content management system) for this example, the strategic principles listed here should be able to be used across many web platforms.
Key Takeaways
Make sure teachers have one central location (we call them ‘staff pages’ in the Foxbright CMS) where they can host all their information.
Empower teachers to be able to personalize the layout of their staff page so they’re most comfortable using it.
That said, you’ll want to retain high level layout control to ensure none of your schools’ brand standards are being broken.
Hopefully your staff page allows teachers to include a diverse amount of information. But at the bare minimum, each staff page should include: information about the teacher, course descriptions & relevant lesson plans, and a secure, private method for families to communicate.
Make sure your site is up to date with the latest ADA compliance measures so that it is accessible to all - regardless of ability level.
Whenever possible, avoid using 3rd party software that will require teachers to have to leave the site and log in elsewhere. For example, Foxbright integrates social media features into the site so that you wouldn’t have to go to Facebook if you wanted to share something.
